      <title>AEV ProCal Module</title>
      <link>http://vodcast.gmx.net/channel/view/289-that-s-awesome-tv-hd-quicktime/89975</link>
<description>In this episode, I go back into the garage, but this time I have a tech twist. A problem that occurs after upgrading to HUGE tires/wheels is that the vehicles computer is confused. The speedometer, shift points, odometer, everything relating to the wheels turning is out of whack. In episode 21, you saw my buddy Chad's 2007 Jeep Wrangler JK, which has 37" tires. Chad was looking for me to hack his Jeep's computer to re-calibrate, because the dealers cannot calibrate that large... I found a few different solutions, some expensive, some confusing, but none as easy as the AEV ProCal Module from AEV Conversions. Think USB stick for cars... very cool project, very simple, and pretty inexpensive. If you own a jeep with large tires, this device is a no brainer... and for you tech heads like me, it's just plain awesome!

      <title>Rancho Bumper Install</title>
      <link>http://vodcast.gmx.net/channel/view/289-that-s-awesome-tv-hd-quicktime/76485</link>
<description>In this episode I stray completely away from technology and head into the garage. With the help of my buddy Chad, we upgrade his 2007 Jeep Wrangler JK with a Rancho bumper (RS6221B). This is a common aftermarket upgrade for you Jeep guys, but it comes with it's challenges. So, Chad and I thought it would be awesome to document the process... And because this show is all about education, I thought it would be great to extend some help to the Jeep community at large. Like I said in previous episodes, it's about making the internet a richer place for everyone.

I'd also like to thank our friends at wUnderCarParts.com, a great website for all your replacement / performance part needs!

      <title>eBay Selling Tips</title>
      <link>http://vodcast.gmx.net/channel/view/289-that-s-awesome-tv-hd-quicktime/71400</link>
<description>In this episode I cover some basics for having a really successful eBay sale. I show you my secret (ok-not that secret) formula for making the buyer feel all warm and fuzzy! It's a long one, so sit back and enjoy!

OH - I failed to mention it in the show, if you do ever sell your hard drive, make sure you do a several pass wipe to ensure security. OSX has it built into disk utility, and for the PC users, I recommend DBAN... maybe I will do a quick show on that next week.

      <title>iMac Economy Upgrade</title>
      <link>http://vodcast.gmx.net/channel/view/289-that-s-awesome-tv-hd-quicktime/65269</link>
<description>This episode is all about upgrading your aging Mac in these tough economic times. Taking an outdated machine and sparking new life on the cheap.

This was all started by a friend requesting me upgrading her older 17" iMac from 10.3.9 to leopard (10.5.x). The first issue was it only had 256mb of ram, so that had to be upgraded (Leopard requires at least 512mb)... also, she wanted to add wireless capability, so I threw in an internal airport card as well. All in all, it was a simple upgrade, and light on the wallet. Join me in the process and you just may learn something!

      <title>Come Fly With Me&#8230;</title>
      <link>http://vodcast.gmx.net/channel/view/289-that-s-awesome-tv-hd-quicktime/58410</link>
<description>There are two things in life I have a hard time turning an eye from, technology and flying. I am a certified Private Pilot, and this episode covers the basics of general aviation and shows off all the new technology in small aircraft. I had the help of Don Weaver, who runs a fractional share (www.optair.com) of several Cirrus SR22's, which has been the best selling single engine piston aircraft for a number of years now. You will be amazed at how technically advanced this aircraft is and how it rivals the technology in a lot of the big airliners flying today.

There's about ~25mins of interview with Don talking about general aviation, followed by another ~25mins of a demo flight where we do a "round robin" to a few airports in the local area. We shoot an instrument approach and go to a small field as well.

This episode has been in the works for a few months and has been plagued by technical issues (like dropping / breaking my HV20 just before shooting!), timing and weather... there is A LOT of room for improvement, so if there is interest on the subject, maybe I will do a small in-depth series. I just had get out what I had and move on... So sit back and enjoy, it's a long one!

As always, if I missed a good tip or other important information, please send me an email or post it on my blog.

      <title>Digital Aspect</title>
      <link>http://vodcast.gmx.net/channel/view/289-that-s-awesome-tv-hd-quicktime/54851</link>
<description>Happy New Year! I trust everyone had a wonderful holiday, I know I did... As I look back on all the visits with friends and family, I realize that I answered a lot of tech questions in the past couple weeks. So, today I thought it would be good to share a couple that stuck in my mind.

First I talk about the digital copies that are shipping in some Blu-Ray and Standard Def DVD's. I walk through the process of transferring them to your Mac and Windows based systems. I also cover aspect ratios... Aunt Mildred still didn't understand why she has black bars on her new widescreen television. Sit back and ring in the new year with some tech tips!

      <link>http://vodcast.gmx.net/channel/view/289-that-s-awesome-tv-hd-quicktime/53650</link>
<description>This is the third and final part of the "Tricks of the Trade" series. In this episode I discuss video compression and also touch on the different ways I publish That's Awesome.TV to the web. Everything from bitrates to aspect ratios to video codecs. After viewing this there will be no excuses for publishing low quality videos to the web. Sit back and enjoy, it's a lot of information, but hopefully educational.

      <link>http://vodcast.gmx.net/channel/view/289-that-s-awesome-tv-hd-quicktime/51799</link>
<description>In this episode (part 2 of 3), I cover all of the post processing that is involved prior to compression. I discuss ripping the footage, rough cutting, keying and editing. All of these processes are shown through a screencast. You will see the show being produced using apps like Final Cut Pro, Motion, etc... Keep in mind, there ARE many other ways to preform these same tasks. If someone knows of a different/easier way(s), I would love the your feedback!

      <link>http://vodcast.gmx.net/channel/view/289-that-s-awesome-tv-hd-quicktime/50694</link>
<description>This weeks episode is the start of a three part series called "Tricks of the Trade". The number one email I receive from viewers pertains to my studio setup. Everything from: "What camera do you use?", "What software...?", "What type of compression?", etc. In response, I have decided to do a series about everything that's involved with shooting, producing and publishing That's Awesome.TV. That's right, I'm tipping my cards for everyone to see!

This first installment has to do with the hardware I use. This includes my camera, mic, lighting and more. The second part will deal with software and post processing and the third will be about compression and publishing. Follow along, and you too can produce your own show!

      <link>http://vodcast.gmx.net/channel/view/289-that-s-awesome-tv-hd-quicktime/44492</link>
<description>This week I apply a software mod to my Nintendo Wii that enables DVD playback. I realize this is kind of old news, but when I finally got around to playing with it, I couldn't find a real good tutorial. I kind of pieced together my own resources (pretty much from the wiki) and created this episode to show all the necessary steps. I know, I know, you probably don't need another DVD player (a sub par one at that), but at least this will show you what is involved if you're interested... and it just may open a whole new world to you, in the form of the Homebrew channel!

I will also show you how to boot Windows natively using Boot Camp, which is a utility built right into OS X. It's a lot of information, so sit back and relax.

<description>In this episode I explore the inside of my dishwasher (for real). Earlier this week I broke the handle that locks the door, so I decided to dig around and fix it myself. I will also show you an awesome resource on the web to locate and buy parts for your home appliance(s). So come along on my "house call" and see how easy it can be to fix things around your house!

<description>In this episode I step though (via a screencast) setting up and securing a wireless router, specifically a Linksys. But have no fear, all the concepts discussed can be applied to any manufacture, I just happen to own a Linksys. I cover things like DHCP, DNS, WPA, WEP and port forwarding. It's a lot of information, but hopefully its all useful and you will be more comfortable managing your own network. If you're a network Guru, this show is NOT for you... but if you're new on the scene, or your friends/parents are, this may be an awesome starting point.

<description>How about this... another week, another show! I wanted to discuss the new iPhone, but because AT&amp;#038;T still hasn't shipped mine, it will just have to wait. So, I thought this would be a good time to start filling up my "Around the House" category.

We all have an item or items that need storage. This week I took a trip to a friends house to check out an awesome lift system he designed and installed to store his trailer. As you will see in this episode, I like to take full credit for the idea, although I had no part in the design or implementation.

And before you get any good ideas to do this yourself, make sure you consult a structural engineer, it's not my fault if your garage falls down - FOR REAL!

<description>Welcome back! I know it has been a long time since the last show, but hopefully I can get this thing on track and start bringing you some awesome content on a more regular basis.

Today I talk about and show off the Apple TV, a great device for watching content from your computer on your HDTV. I call it a media server because that's how I use it, a vehicle to server up all my digital goodness!

I also take you on a quick behind the scenes tour of my mini studio. So sit back and enjoy my rambling, it's a long one!

      <link>http://vodcast.gmx.net/channel/view/289-that-s-awesome-tv-hd-quicktime/59313</link>
<description>Today I step up my backup solution with the addition of a Drobo. I have only had this unit a short while and I already lovin' it! Why? One word, simplicity. It's the easiest redundant backup solution I have ever used. You do pay a slight premium for such ease of use, but the benefits far outweigh the cost in my opinion. That being said, its not the fasting thing on earth, but if you are like me and are just looking for safe storage, this unit is perfect. And if you're not currently backing up, you better start... if you care about your data. Because it's not a matter of IF the the drive will fail, but WHEN the drive will fail.

I kind of threw this episode together just to show the thing off and increase awareness about backing up. If you want more information, check out the Data Robotics website. They have all the details you need.

      <link>http://vodcast.gmx.net/channel/view/289-that-s-awesome-tv-hd-quicktime/59314</link>
<description>This week I talk about shooting in the RAW (and I don't mean nude) and taking shots using bulb or long exposure. RAW files give you all the information that was captured by your camera, where as JPEGs are just compressed versions of that RAW data. Part of the show was shot within Apples Aperture software. Now, I don't explain how to use the software, but rather just show the differences between RAW and JPEG files. If you are new to RAW shooting, give it a try and see if your shots improve.

I also talk about how to get those cool bulb shots you see... whether its a lighting bolt or zooming cars, I will give you the simple secret to nabbing that shot.

Screen casting is a great way to help others and share information in a visual manner. Reading instructions is all well and good, but visual learning takes the cake in my book. Have a watch and start sharing your knowledge with the world...!

      <link>http://vodcast.gmx.net/channel/view/289-that-s-awesome-tv-hd-quicktime/59316</link>
<description>This week I took a little road trip to a friends house (Bill) to help re-install his Windows box. Bill recently purchased a name brand PC which came preloaded with a bunch of nasty bloatware (e.g. applications you DON'T need). I recommend we just wipe the drive clean and start fresh. We go into the steps of reformatting and installing both Windows XP and Windows Vista (don't worry, I will make a special show for my Mac family).

I do feel bad though, I was so concerned with jamming a bunch of information in a short period, I barely let Bill talk at all! My apologies... But as you will see, he was thinking of a lot of awesome things...

Keep in mind, the steps covered in this episode can be utilized for an old machine that just needs a fresh start as well. Heck, I used to reformat / reinstall about every 6 months in my Windows days. I have now seen the light and have graduated to Mac OS X (I know, I know, that was a cheap shot!).

      <title>Taking Awesome Pictures</title>
      <link>http://vodcast.gmx.net/channel/view/289-that-s-awesome-tv-hd-quicktime/59317</link>
<description> I know, I know... this episode is a few weeks late. Well, I have to say... this is a lot harder than it looks! I've spent the past few weeks trying to decide if continuing this show is even worth it. Half the fun was getting the thing up and running, now it's just plain work. Plus, I grossly under estimated the time it takes to produce and publish each episode.

But, I decided to not throw in the towel just yet. Today's episode covers a few basics tips on taking awesome pictures. I go into the ISO / F-Stop settings and explain how to get the most out of these ESSENTIAL photographic settings to optimize your shots!

And I apologize in advance, I am still having focus issues with my camera. At first I thought it was my mistake, but I am thinking I now have a hardware or workflow issue.

Enjoy!

      <title>Demystifying HDTV</title>
      <link>http://vodcast.gmx.net/channel/view/289-that-s-awesome-tv-hd-quicktime/59318</link>
<description>Man, this was a rough one! First off, I am sorry for the delay. I originally said I would publish on Sunday's... and here we are, early Tuesday morning.

Let's just say I had some major technical difficulties, I'll spare the details. But, if you're watching in HD, you will probably notice that I am a little blurry - don't ask - just know it won't happen again.

You know how when you set out to do something, like fixing your sink or car and NOTHING goes right? that was this episode. I feel like sitting in front of the mirror for a daily affirmation (aka Stuart Smalley), Live and learn...

Anyway, this episode ran a lot longer than I anticipated, but it's jammed with a lot of Awesome information on HDTV. Everything from display technologies to receiving HDTV over the air for free.

Now, this is not for you HDTV experts, so look away! but tell your friends who may be less knowledgeable.

Enjoy!

This episode is more or less a meet and greet / mission statement. I'll explain who I am and what That's Awesome.TV is all about. As I cleaned up some of the technical ends this weekend, I was too anxious and had to get something out in the wild. It's a bit off the cuff, so don't mind my ramblings. I'm sure as time goes on I will get more comfortable in front of the camera. This will mainly be a tech show, but I will wander off onto other subjects as I see fit. Make sure you check back for weekly updates.

Next up... demystifying HDTV - Ooooo.

Be sure to stay tuned and tell your friends.</description>
